Evolution of a Sacred Space: Dias de los Muertos

It's been a while since my last blog but I really wanted to share this article image with you.

I was finishing my mural for the Oakland Museum for the Dias de los Muertos celebration. The exhibit runs from Oct. 8th - Dec 7th "Evolution of a Sacred Space". I'll be at the museum on Sunday, October 19, at 2pm for an artist talk.

THANK YOU TO MY FAMILY FOR THEIR SUPPORT: My mother for making me breakfast, lunch and dinner everyday. My father for being my harshest critic and for painting the leaves in my cempazuchitl flowers. My brother Roberto for making the panels and driving all the way to Oakland to install them. My sister Maria and her husband Cedi for letting me use their truck and also coming along and helping install the panels. My little sister Sandy for her company and for bringing me something to drink in those hot summer days. My husband Gilbert for teaching me that I have a great talent and to never give up!....and for painting the Coca Cola bottle.

And to everyone else for coming over and drinking a nice cold chela(beer) with me and for bringing the beautiful papel picado. I love you all!!!
